The Massachusetts Legislative 2023-2024 Formal Session has convened and lawmakers have filed over 7,000 pieces of legislation including legislation related to nursing facility resident care, financial stabilization and workforce.  Among those bills that impact the nursing facility provider community are the nursing home quality jobs initiative which would provide a living wage and career development opportunities for direct care workers; a financial stabilization bill which would recognize current care costs to better ensure the adequacy of Medicaid payment rates; and two quality care improvement bills which would 1) require DPH to provide long term care facilities with timely guidance and technical assistance related to survey outcomes and 2) place controls on temporary nurse agencies.
