  • CHIA Issues 2021 Nursing Facility Cost Report Update – Forms Issued and Due Date is June 24, 2022
April 21, 2022

The Centers for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) yesterday issued the 2021 SNF-CR (nursing facility), the REA-CR (the realty company), and the MGT-CR (management company/central office) cost reports and are now available for submission on the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) website via CHIA Submissions.

Necessary links, cost report instructions and forms are located on CHIA’s website: Information for Data Submitters: Nursing Facility Cost Reports.

All cost reports are due June 24, 2022.

IMPORTANT: You will need to complete the following forms if there were any changes in your facility’s owners, management, or realty companies, or you have new users requiring access to CHIA’s systems:

  • Ownership changes and system user changes are to be communicated by completing the Long-Term-Care-Facility-Information-Form and emailing to Costreports.LTCF@chiamass.gov.

  • First time users that require access to CHIA Submissions must complete the Nursing Facility CHIA Submissions User Agreement and email to Costreports.LTCF@chiamass.gov.

What’s New for 2021 Reporting
CHIA has created a new web application for skilled nursing facilities to submit annual cost reports which replaces the HCF-1 INET cost report. The new skilled nursing facility cost report, called the SNF-CR, has been reformatted and redesigned to take advantage of the new CHIA Submissions platform and to streamline information being reported. These changes are similar to the recently redesigned MGT-CR (for the 2018 reporting period) and REA-CR (for the 2019 reporting period.

CHIA will host a webinar to review the functionality and reporting requirements for the new SNF-CR in late Spring 2022. Details on the webinar will be sent at a later date.

If you are interested in learning about the many changes and enhancements made to the cost report, please follow the link here.  If you have any questions concerning the cost reports, please email CHIA at: Costreports.LTCF@chiamass.gov.
