Re: COVID-19 Updates: County Positivity Rates and Staff Testing for COVID-19; DPH Weekly Call Reminder

County Positivity Rates and Staff Testing for COVID-19
The strongest predictor of Covid-19 outbreaks in nursing facilities is the prevalence of the virus in the broader community. As Covid-19 positive cases across the Commonwealth continue to climb, nursing facilities are encouraged to consider increasing the number of tests performed on staff, if not already required to due to positive staff cases in the previous 14 days. MassHealth under regulation 101 CMR 206.10(4)(b) COVID-19 Staff Testing Supplemental Payment will reimburse nursing facilities for testing done above and beyond what is required under the surveillance testing regimen. MassHealth will pay for up to 100% of staff testing every testing period when only 50% or 90% of staff testing is required, depending on the situation. The County Level Positivity Rates which are used to determine whether long-term care facilities need to test a sample of staff or all staff, are now posted on Wednesdays and can be accessed under the "County-Level COVID-19 Data Reporting" heading below the Weekly Report. Currently there are no counties in Massachusetts that are greater than 5%. Please contact MSCA if you need any testing assistance.
