This week, DPH released updated guidance on COVID-19 Booster Dose Vaccination. Based on the CDC recommendations, the DPH is requesting that long-term care facilities work to ensure that all eligible residents and staff receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose no later than November 30, 2021. Mass Senior Care strongly supports this recommendation, since booster doses are necessary to support the sector’s sustained low re-infection rate. The guidance also discusses that a different COVID-19 vaccine than what was used for the initial series may be administered as a booster dose. DPH has identified resources to help vaccinate residents and staff either through long-term care pharmacy partners, mobile vaccine providers or the Rapid Response Team (RRT). Nursing facilities should contact DPH if they would like assistance with booster dose vaccinations in their facilities.
