The Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Law:

What Long Term Care Employers Need to Know

Program Description:

Implementation of the new Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) is proceeding right on schedule. On July 1, 2019, Massachusetts employers of all sizes will be required to start withholding contributions for the Trust Fund from which the benefits will be paid. Starting in 2021, employees will become eligible to take up to 12 weeks of paid, job-protected family leave, and up to 20 weeks of medical leave. 



This program will provide you with an accessible, user-friendly summary of the key provisions of the law, including:

•How paid leave will be funded  

•Eligibility and coverage under the law  

•Qualifying uses for leave  

•Maximum leave entitlements  

•Employee and employer notice & posting requirements  

•Payment of leave benefits & interactions with other leaves  

•Job protection & anti-retaliation provisions  



Objectives:  

At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will:

  • Understand the timeline and key dates for implementation of the new law;
  • Identify the classes of employees/contractors covered under the law, and
  • Recognize the employer’s responsibility to meet mandatory reporting requirements

Cancelation Policy: 

Mass Senior Care must be notified in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar for a credit of equal amount to be issued to your Mass Senior Care account. No refunds will be given.  “No Show” attendees will be billed at the full registration fee. Cancelations should be emailed to info@maseniorcare.org.

Use the parking garage to the left of the building. Take a left in the garage to access the upper levels.  There are ample handicapped parking spaces located directly in front of the building’s main entrance.  Please do not park in marked reserved spaces.
