Over the past two years, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the federal government issued several 1135 waivers related to routine life safety code requirements. Now that these waivers have been rescinded, it’s time for nursing facilities to return to the basics as it relates to compliance with life safety code requirements. The Mass Senior Care Annual Life Safety Code workshop will include a review of the requirements that have been re-instituted as well as a discussion of fire drill and fire response best practices to ensure nursing facilities are complying. The Department of Public Health will review the top 10 LSC deficiencies and their role within the FSES and the waiver application system. In addition, speakers will provide updates on routine inspections, testing & maintenance.
1) Identify best practices related to fire drills and fire response.
2) Understand the current top 10 LSC deficiencies cited by MA LSC surveyors.
3) Understand the requirements related to routine inspections, testing & maintenance.
