ICD-10 Diagnosis Coding Training for Skilled Nursing Facilities:

Know the Code for Reimbursement Success

Tuesday, June 25, 2019

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

(Registration begins at 8:30 am)

Mass Senior Care Association Office, Waltham

Seminar Description:

With the implementation of PDPM slated for October 1, 2019, ICD-10 coding will be of paramount importance. Reimbursement will depend on diagnosis and conditions reported in the MDS. Take action now to avoid unrealized revenue due to ineffective coding. Diagnoses, specifically ICD-10 codes, will be used to place the resident into one of 10 PDPM clinical categories which will determine the payment components. Join us to reinforce your skills now and be prepared for assigning Clinical Case Mix Groupings under PDPM.

Objectives: This full-day seminar will help you prepare by reviewing the following:

1.Review of intermediate ICD-10 principles.

2.Identify the types of clinical information that should be documented on the MDS to support ICD-10 diagnoses for both hospital and SNF conditions.

3.Incorrect or unreported ICD-10 codes on the MDS will have a major impact on your reimbursement.

4.Review of ICD-10 diagnosis coding that also influences the SNFQRP and SNFVBP programs.

5.Chapter specific guidelines pertinent to the Skilled Nursing Facility setting.

6.‘Real World’ Coding Scenarios and “Live” coding practice.
