MassHealth Issues Nursing Facility Bulletin 147 - Signing Bonuses for Nursing Facility Staff
MassHealth has issued Nursing Facility Bulletin 147, Signing Bonuses for Nursing Facility Staff. This Bulletin describes the procedures for securing the $1,000 state-sponsored signing bonuses for individuals providers directly hire on or after April 8, 2020, and on or before June 12, 2020.
Waiver of Timeframe for Certified Nurse Aide Training
The Commissioner of Public Health issued an order on May 12 to Waive the Timeframe for Certified Nurse Aide Training. This Order removes the statutory and regulatory requirement that a nurse aide must complete the nurse aide training within 90 days of commencing employment, provide that the long-term care facility ensures that the nurse aide is competent to provide nursing and nursing related services and demonstrates competency in skills and techniques necessary to care for residents’ needs. Additionally, as a reminder, CMS has issued a waiver allowing a facility to continue to employ a nurse aide, who has not completed training and certification within four months of employment, as long as the individual is competent to provide nursing and nursing related services.
