Re: COVID-19 Updates: Legislature Approves 3-Month State Budget; Clarification on Outdoor Visitation
Date: July 29, 2020
Legislature Approves 3-Month State Budget through October 31st and
Proposes to Extend the Formal Session
The Legislature has enacted and sent to the Governor an interim $16.5 billion budget that will keep state government funded through the end of October. Mass Senior Care continues to work aggressively with lawmakers and the Baker Administration to modernize the state’s nursing home funding system to reflect the current cost of quality resident care and to make necessary workforce investments. In addition, the Legislature is currently debating a Rule to extend the formal Legislative Session past the Friday, July 31 deadline, to address major issues related to the COVID-19 crisis.
Clarification on Outdoor Visitation
Many members have contacted Mass Senior Care regarding the 7/20/20 DPH guidance on Limitations on Visitors in Long-Term Care Facilities during the COVID-19 Outbreak specifically as it relates to patients that have been discharged from the hospital and are currently in a 14-day quarantine. We have received clarification from DPH that those patients currently in quarantine for the aforementioned reason MAY participate in outdoor visitation as long as they are not suspected of being infected with COVID-19. Suspected means having symptoms and waiting to be tested or pending test results due to these symptoms. Please contact Helen Magliozzi if you have any questions.
