Re: COVID-19 Updates: Extension of Deadline for Reporting Room Density in Nursing Facilities; Update on COVID-19 Surveillance Testing: CHIA Reporting
Date: October 21, 2020
MassHealth Extends By One Week Deadline for Reporting Room Density in Nursing Facilities – New Due Date for Reporting and Attestation is October 30th
MassHealth today issued MassHealth Nursing Facility Bulletin 153 extending by one week to October 30th the deadline by which all nursing facilities must complete the initial attestation and reporting requirements of Nursing Facility Bulletin 151, in regard to reporting room density. Nursing facilities must submit the initial report and attestation required by Nursing Facility Bulletin 151, via the Center for Health Information Analysis (CHIA) online survey, by 11:59 p.m. on October 30, 2020. All other provisions and requirements of Nursing Facility Bulletin 151 remain in effect.
Update on COVID-19 Surveillance Testing: CHIA Reporting
CHIA today notified nursing facilities and rest homes today that, in accordance with the Department of Public Health’s Updates to Long Term Care Surveillance Testing, issued on October 5, 2020, CHIA will be updating the CHIA data submission tool (SurveyGizmo) and reporting procedures beginning this afternoon. As a result, the survey will be unavailable today, 10/21 from 3:00pm until 10:00pm tonight.
In addition, the new reporting schedule begins for this week, October 15 – October 22. CHIA has changed the reporting requirements, so that instead of reporting weekly, providers will now report on the Friday at the end of each testing period, either weekly or every two weeks. For example, if you are testing 90% of staff from October 15 – October 22, you should report that information in the survey on Friday, October 23. If you are testing 50% of staff from October 15 – October 29, then you should report information for both weeks combined on Friday, October 30th and you do not need to report on October 23rd. The updated survey will ask you to identify the start and end date of your testing period. The deadline for reporting data is Friday at 12pm.
For more detailed information on these updated requirements and the updated attestation documents, please see:
CHIA offers the following reminders:
- When reporting for two weeks at a time, please report the total number of unique staff, and the sum of all tests conducted across the two-week period.
- Even if you are testing folks more frequently, you should only report one test per person per testing period. Results should reflect the most recent tests.
- Please always use this same link to report data for a new testing period: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5678159/covid-nf-surveillance
You should receive a confirmation email from SurveyGizmo and an edit link to update any previously-submitted reports within 24 hours of your submission. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact us at CHIANursingFacilityData@state.ma.us.
