Re: COVID-19 Updates: Enrollment Open for National Nursing Home COVID-19 Safety Program; NHSN Updates Instructions and Adds Testing Questions; CMS-CDC Fundamentals Webinar Series

As part of CMS recently announced $5 billion investment package for skilled nursing facility, $2.5 billion funding will be allocated for the National Nursing Home COVID-19 Safety Program led by Project ECHO. The MSCA/HSL Command Center is participating in this CMS funded initiative by establishing local learning hubs.
The National Nursing Home COVID-19 Safety Program is a free program for participating nursing facilities and will provide financial incentives to participants as well as position nursing homes to meet the Infection Control Value Based payments that are anticipated to go into effect for September 2020 – December 2020. NHSN Updates Instructions and Adds Testing to Resident
Impact and Facility Capacity Pathway
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) updated the instructions for completing the NHSN pathway for Resident Impact and Facility Capacity and added questions on testing. NHSN also updated the Resident Impact and Facility Capacity data form. Members should ensure use of the latest instructions and forms for data collection and reporting.
CMS-CDC Fundamentals of COVID-19 Prevention for Nursing Home Management
Starting on August 20, the live webinar series will transition to a pre-recorded, self-paced format. The new CMS-CDC Fundamentals of COVID-19 Prevention for Nursing Home Management training series will include 13 topics that nursing home partners must know to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. These trainings will be housed on QIOProgram.org for 24/7 access. New, pre-recorded trainings will be released every Thursday at 4:00 p.m. EST through September 2020. CMS and CDC will have subject matter experts available on bi-weekly Q&A sessions through early January 2021 to answer questions you may have about the trainings.
