Testing for Nursing Homes in EMS Regions 3 and 4
Based on the COVID-19 Weekly Public Health Report released yesterday, September 23, 2020, EMS Region 3 and EMS Region 4 are now reporting greater than 40 cases per 100,000 residents as a 7 day rolling average. In accordance with the Commonwealth’s testing guidance, nursing homes in EMS Region 3 should be testing ALL staff every two weeks unless a nursing home is conducting weekly surveillance due to a previous positive staff result. EMS Region 4 should begin testing ALL staff every two weeks beginning next week unless a nursing home is already conducting weekly surveillance due to a previous positive staff result. According to the latest EMS Regional data, nursing homes in Region 5 may want to begin preparing for increased testing of staff as the new cases per 100,000 have risen from 23 (9/16 data) to 38 with the current data (9/23).
