Summary

Plan and implement therapeutic recreation services for residents and patients while meeting all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Independent and group activities for residents and patients are developed and implemented to meet their needs and interests.
- Activities programs are implemented in adherence with established procedures.
- Activities are adjusted to meet a resident or patient’s physical, developmental, physiological, emotional and spiritual responses.
- Residents/patients are transported to and from activities per established standards.
- Maximum participation of residents/patients is encouraged in collaboration with interdisciplinary team.
- Resident/patient care is documented and communicated per department guidelines.
- Team members are hired, mentored, and continually developed to achieve stated goals for performance.
- Performance evaluations are completed accurately and timely in accordance with organization standards.
- Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Education/Degree
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required with continued education in healthcare related field.

Preferred
-Therapeutic Recreation degree

Experience
Required
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience as Activities Assistant or demonstrated evidence of specialized training in developing and conducting social or recreational programs.

Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)

Required
-Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.

- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.
- Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
- High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
