Summary Description:

The primary function of the Executive Director is to lead the Applewood team in furtherance of The Loomis Communities’ mission of enriching the lives of older adults in accordance with the organization’s guiding principles.

Essential Functions:

• Leads the day-to-day operations of Applewood, including the direction, administration and supervision of multiple levels of care on a continuing care retirement community campus. Develops policies and procedures to assure the provision of high quality services and the efficient operation of Applewood.

• Maintains a healthy work environment by applying corporate and campus policies consistently, including the administration of fair disciplinary action when needed. Hires, supervises, coaches and evaluates the performance of department supervisors. Holds meetings with department supervisors and all facility staff to provide leadership, to promote team building, to facilitate two-way communication, to encourage collaborative decision-making, and to coordinate services on campus and between campuses. Actively participates in planning and implementing supervisory and staff training programs to ensure compliance with all training requirements and to promote professional development.

• Provides resident-centered leadership consistent with individual residents’ needs. Involves residents, campus and corporate team members, consultants, and others in planning, developing and implementing projects and programs. Strives to attain excellence in resident satisfaction by soliciting resident feedback, promoting interactive problem solving, and implementing resident suggestions. Provides leadership to Applewood resident committees and assures timely completion of meeting minutes. Develops and implements mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of Loomis Village resident

programs. Maintains compliance with confidentiality requirements and residents’ rights. • Assures compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, regulatory, and/or accrediting body standards, including but not limited to CARF/CCAC, the Department of Public Health (DPH), CMS, EOEA and OSHA. Monitors compliance with safety regulations, infection control policies and procedures, and universal precautions.

• Prepares, monitors, and administers operating and capital budgets collaboratively with corporate team members, maintains fiscal control and completes required financial reports.

• Participates in the development and implementation of the Applewood marketing plan and strives to maintain targeted occupancy levels. Conducts marketing and/or brand recognition outreach by participating in various local and professional community organizations and activities. Supports efforts to prominently place the campus in front of potential referral sources.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree from a college or university.

• Minimum three to five years management experience in senior living or a related field.

• Current Massachusetts Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license or a current NHA license from another state with the demonstrated ability to obtain a Massachusetts license within an acceptable period of time.
