Lasell Village is currently hiring staff nurses to work for our Skilled Nursing Facility in Newton, MA. We have full-time and part-time openings available.

Lasell Village is a distinctively different life plan community with education at its heart, located in a New England village setting on the campus of Lasell University in Newton. At Lasell Village, we strive for a caring, enriching, and vibrant community for our employees and residents. Lasell Village is home to more than 200 residents in independent living apartments, Lasell Studios, a 9 apartment supported living unit, and Lasell House, 38-bed skilled nursing, and rehabilitative facility. Requirements:

A graduate of an accredited nursing program with nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing.
A minimum of one year full-time or equivalent clinical experience.
Knowledge of established best practices and standards of nursing care.
Must relate confidentially, professionally, and positively with residents, families, and other employees at all levels.
Must be able to work independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication/critical thinking skills.
Answers on Demand (AOD) electronic healthcare system experience a plus.

Lasell Village is local to the MBTA Riverside T stop. We reimburse up to $40.00 per month for public transportation.


SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a graduate of an approved school for practical or vocational nursing
Must be currently licensed by the State Board of Nursing
Experience is preferred in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing.

JOB SKILLS:

This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles is required, including the ability to recognize and identify symptoms and manage emergency situations.
Knowledge of medications, their proper dosage, and expected results.
Ability to coordinate, delegate and supervise unlicensed nursing functions.
Ability to create a patient-centered environment.
Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by law and in accordance with company policy
Basic knowledge of computer use.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May need to reach overhead, handle objects, use finger dexterity, talk, hear, see, and feel
May need to move, transport or position objects up to 40 pounds
Continuous moving, standing, climbing, frequent periods requiring sustained uncomfortable physical conditions
May need to ascend/descend stairs, operate foot controls, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and twist
May need to work in an environment with noise, vibrations, and occasional fumes
May need to work in protective clothing when company policy and common sense so dictates
Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing area (i.e. medication room, nurses' stations, patient rooms, etc.)
Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary,
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, post-disaster, etc.).
ls subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
