CMS COVID-19 Focused Survey for Nursing Homes
On June 1, 2020 CMS released guidance to State Survey Agencies on the completion of Focused Infection Control Nursing Home Surveys and additional COVID-19 survey activities. In addition, CMS released the following survey documents related to these surveys:
- Summary Table of COVID-19 Focused Survey
- COVID-19 Focused Survey Protocol
- COVID-19 Entrance Conference Worksheet (revised)
- COVID-19 Focused Survey for Nursing Home (revised to include F884 & F885)
Although it is unclear when DPH will begin these focused surveys, nursing facilities should review all of this information and use the COVID-19 Focused Survey for Nursing Home grid as a self-assessment to prepare for these surveys. Please contact Helen Magliozzi, Director of Regulatory Affairs for questions.
Last Day to Schedule Massachusetts National Guard Testing
While MSCA continues to work with state officials on the elements of a statewide surveillance testing program, we suggest that facilities consider testing their staff and residents, who have previously tested negative, on a regular interval or as symptoms arise pending the state’s announcement. Facilities may continue to access testing through the Massachusetts National Guard for symptomatic long term care residents and the MANG will re-test staff in facilities that have completed baseline testing through June 12. Today is the last day to schedule National Guard testing. Facilities must call the mobile testing hotline at 617-366-2350 before 4PM today. The hotline will be staffed 6 days a week from 8AM-4PM ET Monday to Saturday until June 12.
