Trauma Informed Care: What Is It and Is My Facility Prepared?

Program Description:

Trauma-informed care is a Phase 3 requirement set forth in the CMS Requirements of Participation which becomes effective November 28, 2019. Adverse life events–including adverse childhood events (ACEs)–can affect us throughout our lifespan.  As the number of these events increases, so does the risk for negative health and diminished well-being.  For these individuals, the incorporation of trauma-informed approaches is an essential part of person-centered care.   This workshop will provide an overview of the regulatory requirements related to trauma informed care and provide tools to assist facilities in meeting these requirements as well as the needs of their residents.  

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will:      

•Understand the origin and scope of F699 (effective 11/28/2019).      

•Define and understand the interdependency of F699 and associated F-tags.      

•Understand the prominence of the 6 associated F-tags in the new state survey process.      

•Understand how to use the facility assessment tool associated with F699 to gain compliance.      

•Gain competency in developing a facility plan to monitor, maintain and demonstrate practices during survey periods.  

Program Presenter:

Cassandra Tribe-Scott, Sunlight Consulting, is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator who consults on the implementation of Lean processes and trauma-informed care practice in nursing homes, hospitals, and behavioral health systems.

Administrators, DONs, Staff Development  

CEUs: 

3.0 CEUs will be awarded for nurses and nursing home administrators. The Massachusetts Senior Care Association has qualified for “deemed status #NH-09015-007” from the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators for Administrators. This program also meets continuing education requirements for Nurses in Massachusetts.  All paid registrants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Cancellation Policy: 

Mass Senior Care must be notified in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar for a credit of equal amount to be issued to your Mass Senior Care account. No refunds will be given.  “No Show” attendees will be billed at the full registration fee. Cancellations should be emailed to info@maseniorcare.org.
