MDS 3.0 3-Day Competency Program (CHHi-MDS)* (and Recertification option)

Presented in Partnership with Harmony Healthcare International (HHI)

November 19, 20 & 21, 2019

8:30 am – 4:30 pm each day

(Registration begins at 8:00 am)

Program Description:

By moving through the Minimum Data Set (MDS) tool section by section, this 3-Day course offers participants a comprehensive guide through the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process.  The speaker will outline changes to the RAI process under the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM).

The importance of  maintaining a multidisciplinary approach to the RAI process will be stressed.  Care Area Assessments (CAAs) will be introduced as the vital link between the MDS 3.0 and an accurate and resident specific, Person-Centered Care Plan.  Participants will learn how to successfully manage unscheduled and schedules assessments including assessment and timing changes related to PDPM.  A detailed discussion of ADL coding and ADL scoring will provide the participant with the tools to more successfully manage ARD selection and to teach the nursing team how to document ADLs more accurately.  The speaker will demonstrate how MDS Coding correlates to Quality Measures, Five-Star Rating, Reimbursement and the Regulatory Survey process.  Key strategies to identify and mitigate potential risk areas related to MDS coding accuracy will be shared.  Participants will have the opportunity to practice coding during interactive scenarios, ask questions and glean provider-specific clarifications that can be applied immediately upon returning to work.
